Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with the theft of aluminum bleachers from the YMCA near Belleville.
Michael S. Magac, 46, of 1517 Lebanon Ave., Apt. A in Belleville, and Jack N. Houston, 25, of 3904 Ruh Road, New Athens, have both been charged with theft.
According to the police report from the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department, Magac and Houston attempted to sell the stolen bleachers at The Recycling Center at 110 Iowa St. in Belleville. The employee at the recycling center called police to report "suspicious items to recycle" when the men attempted to sell the bleachers around 3 p.m. Thursday.
The YMCA at 2436 Park Road near Belleville had just reported the stolen bleachers. When police stopped Houston's truck on it's way back to the recycling center, more bleachers were found in the bed of the vehicle.
Both men were charged by the St. Clair County state's attorney and their bonds were set at $75,000. Houston remains in custody. Magac has posted bond and has been released.
