Now let's get this straight in our minds. It looks like simple math to me. According to the numbers that were printed in the News-Democrat, there were just 3,770 people in Belleville who really wanted change in this election.
To my knowledge some 45,000 people live in Belleville, according to the signs at the edge of town. I would take that to mean that 41,230 people in town didn't vote against changing anything in town as to the way it was being run because they didn't vote. In other words, they were happy with things as they were, so why vote to change it?
So before you independents pat yourselves on the back too much, you better remember that 41,230 of us who didn't want change are watching.
