Rain forces cancellation of O'Fallon Softball Tournament

News-DemocratApril 19, 2013

— The O'Fallon Softball Tournament slated for Friday and Saturday at the O'Fallon Family Park has been cancelled due to the wet weather.

Once a small four-team tourney, the O'Fallon Tournament has grown into a 16-team affair that featured many of the top teams in the metro-east like Edwardsville, Columbia, Triad and Belleville West as well as quality teams from around the state in defending Class 1A state champion Goreville, Du Quoin and West Chicago.

Despite being disappointed over the cancellation, O'Fallon coach Kate Walsh said she plans to continue the tournament next season.

Walsh said the Panthers will play a doubleheader against Du Quoin, which won the championship of the O'Fallon Tournament last year, at 2 p.m. Saturday at the O'Fallon City Park if their varsity field is dry enough.
