So sorry to the Simons

April 19, 2013

This letter is to accept the bawling out I received from letter writer John Simon for describing the Obama-bashers as Simple Simons, and to apologize to all the Simons of the world. It's a term I've heard all my life, and never knew it was offensive.

From the statement John Simon made about the indignation I'd feel if letter writers used a similar term to refer to African-Americans, I get the feeling he meant I was denigrating a people's ethnicity or religion. If that's what he meant, I doubly apologize because I believe in the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you'd have others do unto you.

Please understand this apology is only for John Simon and all the Simons of the world, whether black or white. It does not extend to the empty heads who call the president an "empty suit," nor the thimbleheads who never give President Obama credit for any positive actions he makes.
