BROOKLYN — A man was shot twice Saturday morning near the Bottoms Up strip club.
The victim is in the hospital and Brooklyn Police are working to identify the gunman, who fled from police and lost them when he drove into St. Louis.
Police Chief Tony Tomlinson said police received a call reporting the shooting at 5 a.m. Saturday.
"We responded to the Bottoms Up for a shots fired call," Tomlinson said.
"Security pointed out the vehicle where the shots came from. The vehicle then took off," Tomlinson said. "We pursued the vehicle and it fled into St. Louis where we lost it."
The suspect's vehicle, a gray Dodge SUV, with Missouri license plates, had two people inside when shots were fired. The victim was shot in the neck and back.
Tomlinson said a fight broke out in the club between two groups and it spilled over to outside the building. He said about 20 people were involved in the fight inside the club.
"The victim was transported to a St. Louis area hospital where he was taken immediately into surgery," Tomlinson said.
The victim's condition was serious but stable and faces additional surgery on Sunday morning.
The club was closed by officials pending a hearing before the liquor commission and the Village Board.
