Schnucks recalling ground beef sold at metro-east store

News-DemocratApril 22, 2013

Schnuck Markets Inc. has recalled ground beef recently sold in Fairview Heights.

The Maryland Heights, Mo.-based grocery store has announced that any ground beef bought at the metro-east store at 625 Lincoln Highway in Fairview Heights between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Sunday should return the product for a full refund or exchange. The store is taking this precaution after pieces of black display paper may have made its way into the grind.

Schnuck Markets also said this is an isolated incident and no other Schnucks store was affected. No injuries or illnesses have been reported.

The recall includes all pre-packaged ground sirloin, ground round and ground chuck purchased with a sell-by date of April 22, 2013. Ground beef from the service case is not affected by this recall.

For more information, contact the Schnucks Consumer Affairs department at 314-994-4400 or 1-800-264-4400.
