Warrant: Suspect accused of beating man at Caseyville gas station

The Caseyville Police Department has a warrant out for the arrest of an East St. Louis man wanted in connection with an aggravated battery of a man at a Caseyville gas station.

Police are seeking Antonio M. Austin, 32. Austin on Tuesday was charged by the St. Clair County State's Attorney with aggravated battery, a class 3 felony. Austin lives in the 1400 block of Missouri Avenue in East St. Louis.

Austin is black, 5-foot-7 and 155 pounds. He is believed to frequent East St. Louis and St. Louis County areas.

Austin is accused of reaching through an open car window on Illinois 157 near Interstate 64 in Caseyville and beating a man about the head at a gas station. The victim was taken to Belleville Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries, according to Caseyville Police Officer Gerard P. Spratt.

Bail for Austin was set at $50,000.
