News-DemocratApril 24, 2013

A party to pack boxes destined for deployed troops will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Jarvis Township Office, 112 N. Main St., Troy.

Volunteers are needed. The packing party is organized through Molly's Adopt a Sailor program, a nonprofit 501c3 organization.

New socks, high protein snacks such as beef jerky, nuts, peanut butter and sunflower seeds; single drink mix packets; gum, and small boxes of crackers. Troops have also requested personal hygiene products for men and women in full-size containers, shaving gel in tubes (aerosol cans are not permitted to be shipped) and razors.

The No. 1 request has been hand-drawn pictures by children and letters from people back home.
