Man robs Walgreens in Fairview Heights, is captured later

A Walgreens store in Fairview Heights was robbed early Thursday and by 10:15 a.m., the suspect was caught in Collinsville.

Around 3 a.m. employees at the Walgreens at 6505 N. Illinois reported a robbery after a man came into the store, selected items to buy and when he went to purchase the items, told the cashier that he was robbing the store.

No weapon was displayed and the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and merchandise from the store.

During the investigation police were able to identify the man and, with assistance from the Collinsville Police, were able to take him into custody without incident.

No one was injured during the crime.
