— A newly established community group will walk through downtown and surrounding neighborhoods to pick up trash on Saturday, weather permitting.

The event could be canceled if there is heavy rain, according to organizer Clint Forsythe, one of the people who started the Rebuild Belleville group.

Attendees will meet at 9 a.m. at the park on the corner of East Main Street and Mascoutah Avenue.

The National Weather Service forecast for Saturday is a high of near 57 with a 50 percent chance of rain.

Rebuild Belleville organizers said they will announce any cancellations due to weather on its Facebook page.

The Damascus Road Fellowship of Belleville will provide trash bags and drinks to participants.

After the cleanup, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., food will be provided at CrossFit Metro East, 1925 S. Illinois St. Attendees should bring their own beverages to the cookout.
