Prayers for the homeless

May 2, 2013

On Saturday I had the great opportunity to attend the interfaith gathering praying for the homeless, sponsored by the Metro-East Interfaith Partnership, at St. Luke's Hall in Belleville. What a wonderful event celebrating that, regardless of one's religious or non-religious or cultural bent, we can all have a common goal to ensure the dignity and comfort for all people.

However, along with prayer comes the responsibility for all of us to take an active part, however we can, to make this happen -- from a simple act of supplying toiletries to blankets, food and other essential needs, we can all do something.

There is a great need for one-on-one contact to meet the need for compassion, understanding and encouragement.

For more specific involvement, one could access the website at www.metroeastinterfaith.org.
