He's ba-a-a-c-k: Cards activate Matt Adams

News-DemocratMay 7, 2013

St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams came off the 15-day disabled list Tuesday afternoon, just in time for the Redbirds' game with the Chicago Cubs that evening.

To make room for Adams on the 25-man roster, the Cardinals had optioned infielder Jermaine Curtis to Class AAA Memphis on Sunday.

Adams, out since April 22 with a strained right oblique muscle, hit .542 (13-for-24) with three home runs and eight RBIs in eight games before he was hurt.

He came through an injury rehab stint without mishap at Class AA Springfield over the weekend, with three hits in 12 at-bats, a double and two RBIs.
