Lebanon man sentenced for violating Clean Air Act

Franklin "Al" Bieri, 54, was sentenced in federal court Thursday for violating the Clean Air Act.

The Lebanon man was sentenced to five months in prison and three months home confinement. He also was ordered to pay a $3,000 fine and a special assessment of $100.

The charges stem from Bieri's purchase of Emerson Electric Facility, a seven-acre site in Washington Park. Bieri admitted that he knew the existing buildings had asbestos, but when he had the buildings demolished in April 2010, he used untrained workers who failed to use proper removal and disposal procedures.
