Will the sun shine on metro-east Mother's Day celebrations?

Friday's weather will be warm and springlike with a high of 71 degrees and a chance of scattered showers.

The National Weather Service is calling for a 40 percent chance of isolated showers, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 8 a.m. The overnight low will be 51 under mostly cloudy skies.

Saturday's weather also brings a chance of showers with high temperatures in the upper 60s.

But the sun will shine on Mother's Day with an expected high of 61degrees and an overnight low of 41.
