— A Waterloo man has been charged with running out the door of local Walmarts with big-screen TVs.

At least twice, the Collinsville Walmart superstore reported a man entering the store, picking out a big-screen television and running out the door with it, according to the Collinsville Police Department.

Similar thefts had been reported at the Glen Carbon Walmart store, police said.

On Thursday, the Madison County State's Attorney charged Michael Plantz, 42, of Waterloo with three counts of burglary, which is a Class 2 felony; and two counts of retail theft over $300, which is a Class 3 felony.

Madison County Circuit Judge Richard Tognarelli set Plantz's bail at $100,000. Plantz was arrested Friday in O'Fallon and is currently in custody at the Collinsville Police Department.
