Hot, hot, hot: Tuesday temperature could threaten record book

News-DemocratMay 14, 2013

Metro-east residents hoping to warm up -- and dry out after a month and a half of cool, wet weather -- will get their wish Tuesday.

The National Weather Service predicts a high temperature of 90 degrees under sunny skies. The high temperature on this date in the St. Louis area is 91 degrees set in 1932.

The warmer temperatures are expected to stick around with a high of 86 predicted for Wednesday.

But the dry weather might not. The forecast calls for a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Wednesday and a 50 percent chance Wednesday night and throughout the day Thursday.
