A 27-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with a car chase and crash that killed a Caseyville teen in Fairmont City in April.
Donald Joseph Friese of St. Louis was charged Wednesday by the St. Clair County State's Attorney with first-degree murder. Friese is accused of intentionally causing the two-vehicle crash that left Mercedes Ferrarie-Troisi, 18, dead in the 4700 block of Collinsville Road in Fairmont City April 29 about 4 a.m.
The vehicle Ferrarie-Troisi was in rolled and she was ejected from the vehicle and one of the vehicles landed on her. She died of internal injuries.
According to police, the car chase started over missing marijuana at a house in the 8500 block of Collinsville Road in unincorporated State Park Place near Collinsville. A chase began and a scuffle took place in the parking lot of the Rural King in Collinsville. The vehicles left the parking lot to continue the chase
A green Buick sedan with Ferrarie-Troisi and a male driver fled and was pursued by a black Denali and a white Chevrolet, a total of eight people all headed west on Collinsville Road traveling at speeds of more than 100 mph, according to police. The sedan and the Denali rolled over in a crash.
Friese remains in custody at the Jennings, Mo., Police Department on unrelated federal charges. His bail in St. Clair County has been set at $1 million.
