Like most anti-gun people, letter writer James J. Harrigan doesn't know what he's talking about. No military-style weapon sold to the general public has a selector switch that allows the weapon to go from semi-automatic to full automatic. If anyone has a weapon that allows this, they got it from the military and are in violation of laws that have been on the books since 1930.
No fully automatic weapons are allowed in the United States of America. Furthermore, the NRA is not opposed to background checks. In fact, the NRA has a background check law it is pushing.
Please, Harrigan needs to get his facts straight before he shoots off his mouth.
