Tigers and Triad both claim their own regionals

Lexi Norton scored two goals and Allison Pritchard and Katelyn Schneider scored one apiece Friday as the Edwardsville Tigers blasted Quincy 4-0 to win the Class 3A Edwardsville Regional soccer championship.

The Tigers rolled up a 3-0 lead at halftime and never were threatened as they advanced to the Collinsville Sectional. Edwardsville (12-5-4) will play Collinsville (15-6) at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Edwardsville played without senior Tayler Heinemeier (broken ankle) and junior goalie Kristen Francis (broken thumb). Freshman Lauren Serfas took over in goal against Quincy.

Triad 2, Waterloo 0

Amy Onesky and Allison Wendt scored the Knights' goals as they defeated Mississippi Valley Conference rival Waterloo to win the Class 2A Triad Regional.

The Knights (14-5) defeated Waterloo (12-10-1) for the third time this season and advanced to the Mascoutah Sectional. They outshot the Bulldogs 23-6.

Triad will play powerful Chatham Glenwood at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The Titans are ranked third in Illinois and are coming off a second-place finish in the Class 2A state tournament last season.
