From staff and wire reportsMay 20, 2013

Macy's will close its downtown St. Louis in the Railway Exchange Center this summer.

Macy's has eight other stores in the greater St. Louis metropolitan area. Macy's spokesman Jim Sluzewski said the move does not affect the Macy's store at St. Clair Square in Fairview Heights.

A final closing sale at the downtown Macy's will begin June 2 and last 10 weeks.

The downtown St. Louis Macy's opened in 1924 as Famous-Barr.
