CENTRALIA — Molly Fields had three hits, including a pair of doubles, to lead an 11-hit attack Tuesday as the Mater Dei Knights beat the Salem Wildcats 9-0 in the Class 3A Centralia Regional.
Jamie Voss threw a five-hit shutout for the Knights. She struck out nine and walked one.
Nicole Maue and Shannon Schuetz each added two hits for the Knights. Maue had a double and Schuetz had a double and a triple.
The game was moved from Rotary Field to Kaskaskia College due to wet field conditions.
The top-seeded Knights (17-7) will play either second-seeded Centralia or third-seeded Olney East Richland at 11 a.m. Saturday in the championship game of the Centralia Regional.
Also in Class 3A, Alton Marquette pitcher Alexis Silkwood fired a one-hitter in leading the Explorers past the Highland Bulldogs 10-0 at the Triad Regional.
Silkwood had seven strikeouts.
Both the semifinal games in the Columbia Regional will be played Wednesday with Waterloo playing Freeburg at 4 p.m. and top-seeded Columbia playing Althoff at 5:30 p.m.
The two semifinal games at Granite City Regional have been postponed until Wednesday at Wilson Park.
Edwardsville will play Quincy at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, while Alton will play Granite City at approximately 7 p.m. Wednesday.
At the Du Quoin Regional, the defending state champion Nashville Hornettes were leading 4-0 when their game against West Frankfort was suspended due to the weather.
The game will be completed at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Carlyle's game against Shelbyville in the Teutopolis Sectional has been pushed back to 4 p.m. Thursday.
Okawville's game against Wayne City in the semifinal round of the Odin Sectional has been moved from Wednesday to Thursday.
The Rockets are slated to play at 4:30 p.m.
