A school bus overturned on southbound Interstate 55 in downtown St. Louis Friday morning.
According to police reports, the bus ended up laying on its side in the middle of the interstate. At least three kids and two adults on the bus were hurt. The extent of their injuries was not released. But they are not thought to be life-threatening.
A car involved in the accident also rolled over. At least one person in that vehicle was injured.
It has not yet been identified from what school the bus was traveling. The bus belongs to First Student transportation. But a representative at the company's Belleville office said it was not one of their busses which means it was not carrying kids from a metro-east school.
The accident happened just before 9 a.m. near the Seventh Street exit from the highway and it caused traffic to back up for miles, both in St. Louis and extending across the Mississippi River into Illinois.
