Heavy rain could alter schedule for Gibault and other teams at state baseball tournament in Peoria

News-DemocratJune 1, 2013

Because of heavy rains Friday in Peoria, the start time for Gibault's Class 1A state baseball championship game against Putnam County could be pushed back a bit.

The tentative start time is 11:30 a.m. at Peoria's Dozer Park. The game can be seen online at www.ihsa.tv.

The Class 2A semifinal game between Eureka and Pleasant Plains was suspended in the fifth inning Friday night because of rain with Eureka leading 2-0. That game will resume at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by the 1A third-place game between Salt Fork and Shawnee.

Illinois High School Association officials announced Friday night that both the 1A and 2A third-place games will be shortened to five innings.
