Nashville softball game, Triad baseball game are pushed back by bad weather

The Nashville Hornettes' season will last a day longer than expected as they'll play Peru St. Bede at 11 a.m. Sunday at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria in the third-place game of the Class 2A State Softball Tournament.

The Hornettes (36-5) were supposed to play the Bruins (18-5) on Saturday afternoon, but the game was postponed because of wet weather.

The Class 2A state championship game between (Kankakee) Bishop McNamara and Tremont will be played at 1 p.m. Sunday at the EastSide Centre.

Class 3A baseball

The Effingham Sectional championship baseball game between the Triad Knights and Mount Vernon Rams also was postponed because of rain Saturday.

The game has been rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. Monday in Effingham.

Triad, of the Mississippi Valley Conference, will bring a 27-11 record into the contest, while Mount Vernon is 29-7-1.

The teams met once during the regular season, with Triad winning 3-1 on March 22 in Troy.
