Edwardsville city to pick up storm debris next week

News-DemocratJune 13, 2013

Edwardsville residents will be able to get rid of storm debris on their regular trash pickup days next week.

City crews will pick up storm debris during the week of June 17-21 on regularly scheduled pickup days. Trash cans used for yard waste must be marked with a 2-foot-by-2-foot red X and placed close to the roadway. Cans or bags of yard waste cannot exceed 50 pounds. Sticks and branches up to 4 inches in diameter will be collected in 2-foot-by-4-foot bundles tied with twine.

Residents also may drop off storm debris 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the city's M Street complex next week. As M Street is closed for major repairs, residents can access the complex by taking North Main to Phillipena, left on Henry Street and right on M Street.

The city does not accept debris from commercial trucks. Allied Waste will take material from commercial contractors at $22 a yard.
