Belleville District 201 school board to discuss acquiring property

News-DemocratJune 15, 2013

Belleville School District 201 school board will consider acquiring property during its meeting Monday night.

Assistant Superintendent Brian Mentzer couldn't release any details regarding the property acquisition. However, he did say the district has been looking "for some cost savings related to office space we currently lease."

Mentzer said more information about the property will be released if the board approves the acquisition.

The school board will also consider approving the course/activity fees and the breakfast and lunch prices for the 2013-14 school year. Mentzer said the district isn't proposing any changes to the current course/activity fees, but the breakfast and lunch prices may increase by a nickel.

The cost for breakfast if the increase is approved will be $1.30 and the cost for lunch will be $2.35, according to Mentzer.

In addition, the board will discuss a new contract to run from July 1 to June 30, 2014, for its four primary lines of insurance: property/casualty, workers compensation, treasurer's bond and student accident. "The recommendation that we are putting forth does show a cost savings to the district," Mentzer said. "We anticipate a significant savings."

The school board meets at 7 p.m. at the district office located at 2600 W. Main St., Suite 155 in Belleville.
