Smokin' K's Barbecue & More set to open in Millstadt

Jeweler and barbecue aficionado Dennis Keck plans to open a restaurant devoted to tangy, grilled foods by next month -- possibly as soon as July 1.

Keck relocated his Keck Jewelers to 5148 E. Washington St. in Millstadt, where he will open his new barbecue eatery, Smokin' K's Barbecue & More, next door.

Keck and his team of fellow BBQ enthusiasts, known as 4 Smokin' Butts, have competed in barbecuing competitions across the county and ranked among the top 25 during the past three years.

In the meantime, you can reach his at his jewelry store at 476-7777.

Construction will begin later this month on a new credit union in Shiloh. A new branch of American Eagle Credit Union will be built at the McEagle development on the southeast corner of Frank Scott Parkway and North Green Mount Road. A ground-breaking ceremony is planned for 2 p.m. June 27. The new credit union is expected to open later this year.

A Fairview Heights beauty shop reopened in a new location. King's Beauty was recently displaced by the closing of the Kmart shopping center in town, but reopened last Friday at Market Place Commons next door to Hooters. King's Beauty carries a full line of cosmetics, wigs and hairpieces, hair and other beauty supplies.
