Mississippi falls below minor flood stage

News-DemocratJune 17, 2013

The Mississippi River has almost completely settled down after some of the most intense flooding in the St. Louis area in two decades.

According to the National Weather Service, the river was at slightly less than 29 feet at St. Louis Monday. That's below the threshold of minor flood stage at 30 feet which it crossed Sunday and slightly above the threshold for "action" stage which is 28 feet.

Predictions call forth the river to hold at about the 29 foot mark thanks to rain that fell on Sunday and which is expected Monday afternoon. It is expected to finally fall below 28 feet by Saturday morning.
