Southwestern Conference football recruits showing well nationally

News-DemocratJune 17, 2013

The Southwestern Conference has a banner crop of football recruits in the incoming senior and junior classes and major college programs have made the metro-east a regular stop on their visits.

According to Rivals.com, East St. Louis senior linebacker Kyron Watson committed to Kansas in May and senior defensive back Greg Taylor committed to Missouri. Another Flyer, Treevon Prater, is headed to Western Michigan.

Belleville West linebacker Tori Millender has numerous major Division I offers, as does Edwardsville defensive back Craig James (offers from Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Iowa State, Kansas and Minnesota) and Edwardsville receiver Darius Crochrell.

Among juniors, East St. Louis defensive lineman Terry Beckner, Jr., and Flyers running back Natereace Strong are already gaining strong attention nationally along with Edwardsville linebacker Zac Rujawitz.

"I think our coaches do a great job of giving these (recruiters) positives about the other schools making sure they get to all the places," O'Fallon coach Brandon Joggerst said.
