Anthony “Tony” and Doris Holdener of Smithton celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on April 28, 2013 with a Mass at St. Michael’s Church and a reception at St. Michael’s Hall given by their children.

Anthony Holdener and the former Doris Roth were married on April 29, 1948 at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Belleville by the Rev. Leo Holdener, cousin of Anthony.

Anthony Holdener is a retired grain and livestock farmer. He is a member of St. Michael’s Church in Paderborn, choir and men’s club, and of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Doris Holdener is a homemaker. She is active in St. Michael’s Church of Paderborn, St. Michael’s Sodality, and a member of Floraville Home and Community Education.

They have six children: Tony (Trish) Holdener Jr. of Belleville, William (JoAnn) Holdener of Millstadt, David (Janice) Holdener of Waterloo, Ann (Frank) Hart, Nancy (Lou) Dori, and Marybeth (Brad) Smith all of Smithton.

They have 14 grandchildren: Anthony Holdener III, Timothy Holdener, Jessica Wachtel, Frank Hart, David Holdener Jr., Amanda Hart, Kyle Holdener, William Holdener Jr., Lauren Stief, Heather Gray, Stephanie Hart, Holly Holdener, Shannen Smith, and Bradley Smith.

They have eight great-grandchildren: Tony, Kate, Frankie, Claire, Nicholas, Madison, Henry, and Maria.
