Belleville officials to tour emergency operations center

Belleville officials on Wednesday will tour the city's emergency operations center and get disaster preparation information.

The public event starts at 6 p.m. at the Belleville Fire Department, 1125 S. Illinois St.

The meeting will cover topics such as the following: When is the emergency operations center activated and who staffs the center? Does the city have an emergency water and food supply? What is the plan if there is a disaster downtown?

City council members will learn how they and their constituents can prepare for a disaster.
