A Wood River man with lawn care on his mind is accused of walking out of a Walmart with a lawnmower, weed trimmer and a pair of shoes without paying for any of the items.

Adam M. Moss, 28, of 213 Picker Street, was charged with burglary in connection with incident that occurred Monday. Police found the stolen shoes but were still looking Wednesday for the lawn mower and weed trimmer, said Madison County Sheriff's Capt. T. Mike Dixon.

An employee at the Godfrey Walmart called the sheriff's office to report a theft around 7:15 p.m. Deputies viewed the surveillance tape showing Moss leaving the store with the items, according to the police report.

On Tuesday, Moss returned to the Godfrey Walmart and was met in the parking lot by deputies as he was leaving.

He was wearing the stolen shoes, which deputies took and placed into evidence, and Moss was taken to the Madison County Jail.

Bail for Moss was set at $50,000.

Investigators are seeking information on the missing lawn mower and weed trimmer and are asking anyone who has any information related to the theft to call the Madison County Sheriff's Office at the investigations department at 618-692-0871, the dispatch center at 618-692-4433 or by the anonymous tip line at 618-296-3000.
