News-DemocratJune 24, 2013

The Collinsville City Council will hear from a representative of the U.S. Postal Service on Monday evening about the relocation of the Collinsville post office.

The post office is located on Center Street across from city hall but the U.S. Postal Service plans to move the post office from its current location to another U.S. Postal Service owned building at 1610 Eastport Plaza in the Collinsville Carrier Annex. The Eastport Plaza office will be remodeled with an upgraded retail center to serve postal customers.

The council will also hear a presentation regarding the 2012 comprehensive annual financial report of the city's finances from C.J. Schlosser & Company, LLC.

And, the city council is expected to vote on an ordinance that would designate the Miner's Theater at 204 W. Main St. as a historic landmark. The Miner's Institute Foundation has requested the designation.

The City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.
