Mascoutah motorist rescued after driving into flood water

Emergency crews rescued a man Wednesday afternoon who became stranded in the 6700 block of Brickyard Road in Mascoutah after he drove into flood water.

The call for help came in at 12:39, according to Mascoutah firefighter Ryan Haas. The man was pulled to safety nearly an hour later with the assistance of the Belleville Fire Department whose crew members assisted with a boat.

There was no information available about the victim's condition immediately after he was rescued. He was being checked out by paramedics at the scene.
