News-DemocratJune 27, 2013

Power to all but a handful of the more than 1,000 metro-east homes and businesses left without power after Wednesday thunderstorms was back on Thursday morning.

According to electricity provider Ameren's outage map at 6:30 a.m., a total of 949 customers in O'Fallon remain without electricity after overnight storms. Another 189 customers are without power in the Washington Park area, 52 customers are without electricity in East Alton and 31 are without service as of 7 a.m.

By 8 a.m., the Washington Park residents without power were still waiting to be restored. But less than 100 total customers were without power across the rest of the metro-east.

There was no word as of Thursday morning about when electricity is expected to be restored for those still without power.
