Sheppard and Bielong post victories at Belle-Clair

Brandon Sheppard was the UMP Late Models winner and Brian Bielong took the checkered flag in the UMP Modifieds feature last week at the Summer Nationals event at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville.

Ryan Unsicker was second in Late Models and Michael Kloos was third. Dean Hoffman was second in Modifieds and Matt Mevert was third.

Belle-Clair will host the Hooters Fairview Heights Topless Twin 30's on Friday for UMP Late Models and UMP Modifieds.

The night will feature topless autos and the Hooters girls along with a $1,000 Grand Fan Giveaway. The $600 bounty on Dean Hoffman returns, making it $1,200 that could possibly go to the winner of the Modifieds feature.

Tri-City Speedway

Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach will host one of the racing season's top events July 3 when the 61st annual Hut Hundred race comes to town.

The popular event features the Lucas Oil National Midget Series POWRi racers as well as the USAC Midget National Championship.

Gates open at 5 p.m. and general admission tickets are $20 with children under 12 admitted free.

Iowa driver Chris Simpson was the UMP Summer Nationals winner in UMP Late Models last week at Tri-City. Michael Long won the Summit Modified main event and Mount Vernon's Aaron Heck won in Pro Late Models.

Brady Smith was second in UMP Late Models and Brian Birkhofer was third. Levi Kissinger was second in UMP Modifieds and Josh Russell was third.

Highland Speedway

Highland Speedway is bringing back Family Fun Night on Saturday with box seats and general admission tickets available for $10.

Double features are planned for the UMP B-Dry Solutions Sport Mods, with the Outlaw Micros, Street Stocks and KidModz also running.

The next big event headed for Highland is the DIRTCar Summer Nationals Hell Tour on July 6. The night will feature a $10,000 to win race for UMP Late Models and $1,000 to win for Summit UMP Modifieds, with Street Stocks also will be racing that night. Tickets are $28 and $30.

Federated Auto Parts Raceway

Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., is hosting one of the region's biggest events Saturday -- the UMP DIRTCar Summer Nationals Hell Tour.

The event features the "Kiss The Catfish 40" paying $10,000 to win for UMP DIRTCar Late Models. The Summit UMP Modified Nationals will pay $1,00 to win.

The UMP DIRTCar/AARA Sportsman and Pro 4 Stocks also will be running.

Ticket prices are $28 for general admission with children 12-under free. All gates open at 4 p.m.
