Metro-east marching bands sweep top spots at VP parade

Marching bands from metro-east schools took the top four spots Thursday in the St. Louis Veiled Prophet Parade's band competition.

O'Fallon Township High School and Collinsville High School tied for first place, with 93.5 points apiece.

Third place went to Belleville East High School, with 92.5 points.

Fourth place went to Alton High School, with 83 points.

Fifth place went to Lakeside Lutheran High School from Lake Mills, Wis.

There were three specialty awards presented, each of which went to a metro-east band:

* Outstanding music: O'Fallon Township High School.

* Outstanding marching: Collinsville High School.

* Outstanding general effect: Belleville East High School.
