Woman killed in crash in Swansea

A woman was killed in a car-truck crash Thursday afternoon in Swansea.

The woman's identity was not being released Thursday evening.

According to police, the wreck happened about 5 p.m. on Old Collinsville Road.

The woman was driving a passenger car that collided with a pickup at the intersection with William Lane.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

"The cause of the crash is under investigation," said Swansea Police Sgt. Matt Blomberg.

Police from Belleville were assisting with a reconstruction of the crash.

The driver of the truck, a male, was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries. His identity also was not being released Thursday evening.

Other details about the crash were not immediately available.
