Holbrook is a poor choice for county clerk

July 5, 2013

Once again we, as residents of St. Clair County, are given no choice in the recent appointment to of the county clerk.

County Board Chairman Mark Kern's appointment of Tom Holbrook is politically motivated and Kern once again proves that he is unfit to be a leader.

Holbrook has no knowledge of the inner workings of this office. Holbrook wasn't professional enough to finish out his term as an Illinois representative but he has once again aligned himself in the Democratic gravy train for special favors and handouts.

I am sure the voters of the 113th District are quite proud of the man they elected to represent them and he rewarded them by quitting and giving his job to Jay Hoffman.

Kern has also made other dimwitted decisions by hiring the infamous Frank Bergman has HR director for the county -- a man who had a shady tenure as Cahokia's mayor. And let us not forget the newly hired janitor Scott Flood, who was fired by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for using the state's resources for personal gain and sleeping on the job. What a guy, huh?

It is quite obvious that Kern's inabilty and unwillingness to govern fairly and without prejudice shows his arrogance and contempt for the people of this county. I surely hope the people who propelled him to office are proud of their voting record. Be careful what you wish for; you may get it.
