65-year-old Swansea woman killed in July 4th crash

Police released the name of a Swansea woman killed in collision Thursday.

Carolyn L. Jackson, 65, of Swansea, died after her car was struck on the driver's side by a truck, according to Swansea Police Chief Mike Arnold.

Police were called at 5:11 p.m. Thursday to the collision on Old Collinsville Road.

The woman was driving a passenger car that collided with a pickup at the intersection of William Lane.

Police continued Friday to investigate the cause of the crash. Belleville Police assisted reconstructing the crash Thursday.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck was taken to a local hospital for treatment; his name was not released.
