Woman falls off Golden Eagle Ferry into river

Recovery crews searched for a woman who fell from a ferry into the Mississippi River on Friday.

The Coast Guard assisted a St. Charles County, Mo., fire department in searching for the St. Louis County woman who is in her 60s, according to television reports. Searchers say the woman was seen falling off the front of the Golden Eagle Ferry on the river about 4:20 p.m.

The ferry runs between St. Charles County and Calhoun County.

The Calhoun County Sheriff's Department, the Illinois Conservation Department and the Central County Fire Department in St. Charles all helped with the search.

Late Friday, the rescue mission changed to a recovery mission.
