Cardinals, Westbrook subdue Marlins

— Jake Westbrook allowed one run in seven innings and Allen Craig had two RBIs on Friday to lead the St. Louis Cardinals past the Miami Marlins 4-1 before 46,177 at Busch Stadium.

How it went

Matt Holliday and Craig had back-to-back doubles in the first against St. Louisan Jacob Turner to make it 1-0. Logan Morrison's home run led off the second and tied the game at 1. Holliday and Matt Adams had RBI doubles in the third, sandwiched around Craig's sacrifice fly. Westbrook (5-3) allowed three hits, walked none and struck out none, throwing just 86 pitches. He recorded 18 outs on ground balls.
