Sangria, Cocktails with Wine & Small Bites

Features: You've had a cocktail, but have you had a winetail? It's a summer wine party in the classroom. Eckert's culinary team will share some fun recipes for making wine into a refreshing mixed beverage. Light summer appetizers featuring homegrown produce will impress your taste buds, too.

Junior chefs at the White House

First Lady Michelle Obama will welcome 54 junior chefs children to the executive mansion today for creating winning recipes as part of a healthy lunch contest. The youngsters will dine on some of the top dishes at their luncheon and tour the White House vegetable garden.

More than 1,300 children ages 8 to 12 entered the second Healthy Lunchtime Challenge, which asked them and their parents to create nutritious lunch dishes representing each of the food groups.

Farm and Cook in the USA!

What: Mommy & Me Cooking Class (Ages 2-5)

When:9:30-11 a.m. Friday

Where: Eckert's Country Store classroom, 951 S. Greenmount Road, Belleville

Cost: $12/Child

Features: Taking a wagon ride out to the orchard. Tthen go back to the classroom and create Patriotic Peach Chicken Salad and a Stars and Stripes Peaches and Cream Smoothie. Come dressed in red, white and blue to really show off your American pride.

All-American Farm Feast

What: Kids Cooking Class (Ages 5-12)

When:1-3 p.m. Friday

Where: Eckert's Country Store classroom, 951 S. Greenmount Road, Belleville

Cost: $15/Child

Features: Come celebrate America's birthday by taking a ride out to the orchard and then coming back to the classroom to create some tasty all American treats. Create Patriotic Peach Chicken Salad, Stars and Stripes Peaches and Cream Smoothie and a Celebration Picnic Salsa. Wear your favorite red, white and blue clothes and show off your American pride.
