Thanks for knowing the news

July 8, 2013

I would like to thank all of the folks who take the time to read the paper and particularly the Opinions page. Thanks to those folks who take the time to read and absorb the opinions of others and then take the time to either to write to the paper commenting on the letters or better yet, those who take the time to pick up the phone and call and communicate their opinions and thoughts to those who submitted the letters.

Not all comments are complementary to the letter writer, but it does point out the differences, and opens the day for further communication and the possibility of clarification and solutions. It is particularly pleasant to receive a complimentary comment in the paper or a personal phone call.

It is particularly gratifying to know that people are reading the paper and that the written word is accepted and understood. With so much technology to text and store things in space or on little cubes, it is nice to know that there are people who can still read phrases made up of more than four-letter words and still use paper.

It is nice to have things stored in small spaces, but no matter what the storage method, other than paper and stone, it only takes a blink of the eye to lose power. And without power, only the paper and stone can be read.

Thanks again for reading the paper.
