Best bets: Shrine Circus, Indian Art Show

July 10, 2013

Remember when it rained on Belleville's annual Ainad Shrine Circus parade May 31 and canceled performances the next two days?

Well, the silver lining is finally here.

Shrine Circus performances have been rescheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Belle-Clair Fairgrounds in Belleville.

The George Carden Circus International will bring tigers, elephants, ponies, dogs, clowns, aerial and high-wire acts to the fairgrounds. Highlights include:

Six Extreme Motorcycle riders performing hair-raising maneuvers, including jumps and backflips, in the Globe of Death.

Guiming Meng, a talented artist from China, who balances and spins a huge ceramin pot, among other things, on his head.

Camels will perform challenging feats at the voice commands of their handlers.

And, it wouldn't be a circus without the big cats. Gian Carlos and his big pussycat tigers will be on hand to amaze you.

Tickets are $14 for adults; $10 for children; available from any Ainad Shriner, call 618-874-1870 or purchase at any Schnucks, Hucks or MotoMart.

Proceeds from the circus go toward Ainad Shriner projects.
