Take a Bow puts on American classic 'Anything Goes'

Take A Bow Showcase in Belleville will perform "Anything Goes," one of the most beloved musicals in American theater, this weekend and next.

About 35 actors and singers dressed in elegant 1930s-era costumes will tell the story aboard an Art Deco luxury cruise ship known as the S.S. American.

They will be accompanied on Cole Porter classics by a 20-piece orchestra, conducted by retired Belleville West music director Ralph Schelesinger.

"The show is just non-stop fun, start to finish," said co-director Maryann Totsch. "It's a wild ride that starts at high speed and never slows down.

"People will be absolutely amazed at the song-and-dance numbers. It took a team of 10 choreographers to do justice to designing the various high-energy dance routines."

"Anything Goes" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, 7:30 p.m. July 26 and 27 and 2 p.m. July 28 at Belleville East Performing Arts Center, 2555 West Boulevard.

Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, students and military personnel and $5 for children 5 to 11. Children 4 and younger are free.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for the best seat selection at 618-409-0015 or at the box office up to one hour before show time.

Take A Bow Showcase is a non-profit community theater group. For more information, visit www.takeabowshowcase.org or email info@takeabowshowcase.org.
