Dangerous heat expected Thursday and Friday

Dangerously hot weather is expected in the metro-east Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service, the high temperature will reach 96 Thursday afternoon under mostly sunny skies. The heat index is expected to hit 104 degrees.

The extremely hot weather is expected to spill over into Friday with a high of 95 degrees and a heat index of 101. But the weather could be cooler -- and wetter -- this weekend.

A 40 percent chance of showers is predicted for Saturday with a high of 90. On Sunday there will be a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms with a high of 88.
