State workers put money ahead of Murray residents

July 19, 2013

I am the mother of a 50-year-old man who has lived at Murray Developmental Center since he was 7 years old. Recently I got a letter from Kevin Casey, who is working to close the center, telling me that I needed to meet with them and plan the moving of my son out of Murray. Well, I am a member of the Murray Parent Association and I contacted them and I found out this is just one of two men who gets paid $5,300 for every meeting they have with the parents on top of a salary of $180,000.

No way am I having a meeting with him so he can make that kind of money on the back of my disabled son. No way. This is just horrible. They care nothing about the people who are at Murray Center; all they are after is the money.

There is a lot more to this story and I hope some reporter looks into it. Contact Murray Parents Association in Centralia if you want to get the whole story.
