Collinsville man pleads guilty to child porn charges

July 22, 2013

A Collinsville man has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges for taking pictures of a teenage girl.

The 16-year-old girl's mother contacted police when she discovered the girl had been having sex with Martin L. Evanick, 30, of Collinsville. Evanick admitted to police that he had had a sexual relationship with the girl, and his cell phone contained four photographs of her that constituted child pornography.

Evanick pleaded guilty Monday in federal court to production of child pornography, which carries a prison term of 15-30 years and a $250,000 fine. He will be sentenced in November. Until then, he remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.

Investigating agencies included Collinsville Police and the FBI's Metro-East Cyber Crimes and Analysis Task Force, both part of the U.S. Department of Justice's Project Safe Childhood.
