One more hot day on the way Tuesday

There is a 40 percent chance for afternoon thunderstorms in the metro-east Tuesday, with a heat index of 100 degrees in the forecast.

The most likely chance for rain is between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. with a high temperature of 92 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

But things could change significantly over the next several days as a cooler weather pattern moves into the area.

High temperatures near 80 degrees are expected through Saturday with mostly sunny skies expected Wednesday and Thursday, and a 30 percent chance of showers for Friday and Saturday.
